Melvin G. Berkey

Berkey, Melvin G., 84, Windber.  Died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on June 29, 2015.  Born Feb. 24, 1931 in Windber.  Son of Emmet and Velma (Naugle) Berkey.  Preceded in death by parents and brother Earl L.  Survived by loving wife of 63 years the former Lila L. Lehman and these children Cindi, wife of John Papinchak, Windber;  Kevin,  married to the former Elizabeth (Reynolds), Petal, Miss;  and Gayle,  wife of John Toki, Windber.  Grandchildren Kim, wife of Joe Quinn, Jason Berkey, and Jeffrey Berkey.Great-grandchildren  Meghan, Evan, and Isaac Quinn.  Also sister Myrtle Stiffler, Windber.Lifelong member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Windber.  Korean War Veteran.  Also a member of Windber Healthstyles.  Melvin was a loving husband and father and his grandchildren were very special to him.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc., Windber.  Funeral service will be held at 11:00 Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Windber. Pastor Peter Helmers, officiating.  Interment Richland Cemetery. Military graveside rites by Windber VFW Post 4795.  In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church c/o the building fund, 514 Shady Ln., Windber, PA 15963 in memory of Melvin.
