Stanley A. Badowski

Badowski, Stanley A., 92,  Windber died on June 4, 2015 at the Church of the Brethren Home.  Born July 24, 1922 in Windber son of the late Frank and Katherine (Gegiel) Badowski.  Also preceded in death by wife former Kathryn DeBiase in 2002, infant daughter, Concetta; brothers, John, Joseph, Edward, Frank, George, Chester and Andrew.  

Survived by sons Gary married to former Phyllis Kraynick, Olathe, KS; Robert married to the former Judy Waltos, Windber.  Grandchildren: Mark and wife Jenny; Jeffrey; Chad; Robert and wife Tonya; Ryan; Katie and husband Noah.  Great Grandchildren: Taylor, Mason, Addisyn, Aubry, Pierson, Victoria, Gwendolyn, Zander and Alexandra.

Stan graduated from Windber High School in 1942.  He enlisted in the Army Air Force after graduation where he became an Airplane Mechanic and B-29 bombardier.  He later trained as an Aviation Cadet and achieved the rank of Flight Officer in June 1945 with The 2123rd AAF Base unit.  He was discharged in November 1945. Stan returned to Windber where he operated heavy equipment, worked as mechanic and coal miner. He was an active member of the UMWA.  He worked diligently on many St. Anthony of Padua building projects and church events.  He enjoyed spending time with the grandkids taking many trips to the library and taking great pleasure in reading each book to them.  He enjoyed gardening and a good political discussion always leaving no doubt on which side of the fence he was on.  He was a loving husband to Kathryn for 56 years and was the perfect care giver during her long illness. 

Stan was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church Windber, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday June 8, 2015 with committal to follow at the church cemetery.  Military graveside rite by Windber VFW Ritual Team. The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 PM Sunday June 7, 2015 at the funeral home.
