Fairbank, Mrs. Nancy Jean (Ream), 82, Richland Twp.  Went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 5, 2015 at Arbutus Park Manor.  Born Oct, 19, 1932 in Altoona.  Daughter of Alfred and Kathryn (Lazer) Ream.  Preceded in death by parents, sister-in-law Janet Fairbank, and former son-in-law Raymond Reitz.

Survived by loving husband of 57 years Charles and these children Brian C. Fairbank, Cononsburg, PA;  Roger A. Fairbank and significant other Alane, Trafford, PA;  Kathy E., (Reitz) wife of Tony W. Grimsley, Mt. Sidney, VA;  and James A. Fairbank, Davidsville.

Nancy was a 1950 graduate of Johnstown High School, serving on the reunion committee for 60 years.  Graduate of Conemaugh Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1953 as a registered nurse.  She worked at all 3 local Johnstown hospitals, where she retired from Lee Hospital after 20 years.  Also was a Red Cross nurse and volunteer for 15 years.  It was at the Red Cross where Nancy met Charles 57 years.  He came to donate blood.  They found they had a mutual friend, and 7 months later they were married.  Nancy would always say “I pricked his finger, and it went straight to his heart.”  In Nancy’s “Five Wishes” she wanted to be remembered that as a child, she grew up always believing in Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit.   She tried to be a servant to all.  She wishes all to know that death is not the end for her, but a new beginning. So do not be saddened, but rejoice.  Her favorite bible chapter was Philippians 4: verse 13, “I can do all things through Christ who Strengthens me.”  She was a member of Homestead United Methodist Church, Johnstown, serving on many committees, including mission chairman and prayer chain leader.  She was a Sunday school teacher for 70 years.  Nancy, having been an only child enjoyed her many sisters-in-Christs, especially Eleanor, Sally, Elinor, Thelma, and others.   Many thanks to Arbutus nursing westwing 2nd fl. and Windber Hospice for their loving care of Nancy.  The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc., Windber.  Pastor Edward Wagner, officiating.  Interment Richland Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Homestead Ave. U.M. Church, New Day, Cambria City Mission, or your favorite charity in memory of Nancy.
