Ellen (McNulty) Feeley

Ellen McNulty Feeley, Ed.D, died on Thursday, March 19, 2015, of a coronary. She was born on March 26, 1924, in Windber, Pa. She was the daughter of John McNulty and Agnes Imgrund McNulty. Her sisters were Mary Theresa, Agnes (both deceased) and Collette Holsopple of Harbison, De. She was married to John J. Feeley (deceased) of New Philadelphia, Pa. and leaves behind her two sons, John (Helen Young, deceased) of this city and James (Joann Urtczek) of Laurium, Mi. and her five grandchildren, John, Allison, Julia, Savanah and Cassandra. Dr. Feeley was a graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, class of 1945. She served in the army of occupation in Japan that same year. She was a graduate of the Catholic University of America, class of 1950, with a bachelor's degree in nursing. She was a nursing instructor at the Childrens' Hospital in Washington, DC. and served as a private duty nurse while her children were young. She received her master’s degree in 1970 in nursing and her doctorate in 1972 in educational psychology all from Catholic University. She taught medical surgical nursing at Catholic University (1972 – 1976) and Georgetown University (1976-1980) and administered the Baccalaureate Nursing program at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown (1980 – 1999). During her long life, Dr. Feeley was an active member of the Gonzaga Mothers' Club, the Sodality of Our Lady at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, a Cub Scout den Mother for Pack 98, a member of the Windber Centennial Committee, Prayer Shaw ministries and the Catholic University of America Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family of Ellen Feeley at the Meek Dalla Valle Funeral Home, Windber, Pa., from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday evening, 3/27. A vigil service will be offered at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. A mass of Christian burial will be offered for her on Saturday, March 28, at 10:00 AM, preceded by visitation from 9:00 AM, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Windber, Pa.
