Bessie M. (Seger) Vaneiken

Mrs. Bessie M. Vaneiken , age 81, died peacefully March 27, 2017 in Delaware.  She was born on July 13, 1935 in Johnstown daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Lamer) Seger. In addition to caring for her family, she worked as an assembly person for W. L. Gore in Newark, DE, retiring after over 20 years of dedicated service.  An avid gardner, Bessie relished being outdoors tending her flowers and was also a talented crafter.  She adored spending time with the love of her life and best friend, her late husband Calvin,  Above all else, Bessie will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother and will be dearly missed.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Calvin E.; and son Duane Vaneiken.  She is survived by her children Joyce Hawkins (Ralph), Chestertown, MD, Jeff Vaneiken (Wendy), Elkton, MD, and Susan Wilson (Samuel), Lincoln University, PA; sister Virginia Muchesko (Jerry), Johnstown.  She is also survived by four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.  The Rev. Ronald St. Clair will officiate.  Interment to follow immediately at Berkey Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to a hospice or the donor's choice in Bessie's memory.
