Obituary

Powell, Zetta M., 88, Windber, passed away April 11, 2022 at Windber Hospital. Born June 21, 1933 in Meyersdale, daughter of the late Joseph and Kathryn (Hostetler) Baer. Preceded in death by husband, Jack E. Powell; and sons, Barry and Mark Powell. Survived by loving son, Brian L. Powell, Windber; grandchildren, Kristen, Erin, Cara, Kenneth, Justin, James and Jenna; great grandchildren, Lincoln, Kennedy, Madison, and Miles; brother, Gary married to Peggy; sister, Mabel Ann DeAmaral; and numerous nieces and nephews. She graduated from Meyersdale High School class of 1951. She was the first recipient of the "Lucy Scull Cook" scholarship for nursing and graduated from the Windber Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She retired after 36 years in the nursing profession. She married Jack Powell of Windber on May 9, 1955 in Winchester, Virginia. She was an active member of  the Scalp Level Covenant Brethren Church, Windber, where she was active in the church Choir and the ladies fellowship. She was also a former Treasurer for Scalp Level Paint Fire Department ladies auxiliary. Zetta formerly served as an usher at Arcadia Theater, Windber. She enjoyed spending time with her family, interests included traveling, camping, bingo and solitaire. Family will receive friends Thursday, April 14th from 4 to 8 p.m. at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home, Windber. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 15th at the funeral home 1312 Graham Ave. Windber, PA 15963, Rev. Mark Murchie, officiating.
