Perkosky, Shirley M., 85, Windber, passed away peacefully in the care of Conemaugh Hospice at Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown. Daughter of Howard and Ada (Seese) Miller. Preceded in death by parents, husband Frank Perkosky Jr., daughter Sheryl, sons Derek and Timothy, brothers Paul, David, Leroy, Russell and Billy. Survived by loving son and caregiver, Matthew, special sister-in-law Kathy (Paul), who helped keep an eye on my mother. Sheryl’s children Cristine, Jimmy and Rodney, sister Lois Napora; brother-in-law Leonard, sister in law Delores (Chet) and numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley was born in Windber and attended school in Windber. She was a homemaker and took pride in keeping the house clean and neat. She enjoyed listening to country music and to Polkas. It was something to see and hear as she danced around and tried to sing along to the Sunday Polkas on the radio while cooking dinner, even though she could not speak Polish. Special thanks to the Laurel Highlands Alzheimer’s support group for their help and info. The thoughtful care she received from the Johnstown Memorial ER, Ashman-Rose ICU and especially the Palliative and Hospice care nurses and staff, also to Ryan Dalla Valle for making the funeral arrangements less painful. Shirley was a thoughtful person who enjoyed helping others. God bless her and may she rest in peace in Heaven with the rest of her family. Love you mom. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 12, at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home, Windber, where the funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 13. Rev. Joe Brown, officiating. Interment Richland Cemetery. www.meekfuneralhome.com.
