Murtha, Richard Paul "Dick", 88, Windber, passed away September 17, 2023 at Windber Hospital. Born March 11, 1935 in Johnstown, son of the late Paul K. and Nellie Marie (Stormer) Murtha. Preceded in death by infant brother, Anthony Murtha; brother, Paul Murtha; and sister, Sharon Balough. Survived by loving wife of 65 years, Janet (Campitell) Murtha, who married on October 5th, 1957; loving daughter, Kelly Jean married to Robert Statler; grandson, Ryan Statler; sisters, Donna Gallagher and Gayle Marie Weir; also by numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was a graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School class of 1953. He was a proud 4 year veteran of the United States Air Force. He attended Cambria-Rowe Business College, University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, Pennsylvania School of Banking at Bucknell University, and the National association of Bank Auditors and Comptrollers (Bank Trust Auditing) and attained his Pre-Standard and Standard Banking certificates. Dick was employed in the Banking profession for 23 years and retired from the Southern Alleghenies Planning and Development Commission, as a Senior financial analyst with 12 years of service. Richards memberships include: Past President of the American Institute of Banking, Laurel Highlands Chapter; past member of Windber J.C's; past Treasurer of Windber Stadium Authority; past member of the Windber Area School Board; past member of the GJVT advisory committee, past member of council 467 Knights of Columbus; past member of council 4067 Knights of Columbus in Windber; 4th Degree Knight of Columbus; charter member and past President of the Our Lady of Knock Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Johnstown and served as a Director of the Pennsylvania State Board of the A.O.H. for 22 years. Dick was a hypnotist and handwriting analyst for over 20 years. Richard was a devout Catholic, active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Windber. He was a proud Irishman, who loved his heritage and celebrated it often. Family will receive friends Tuesday, September 19th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home of Windber where A.O.H. service will begin at 6:00 p.m., Knights of Columbus service will begin at 6:30 p.m., Windber American Legion will hold service at 7:00 p.m. and Vigil service will be held at 7:15 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 20th at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Windber, Fr.
