Rev. Rodger J. Thomas

Thomas, Rev. Rodger J. Sr., 87, Windber formerly of Mt. Hope, was welcomed home by Jesus on Tuesday, November 14th, 2023 at Windber Woods. Born March 23, 1936 in Johnstown, son of the late Woodrow and Caroline (Berkebile) Thomas. Preceded in death by loving wife of 40 years, Shirley Jo (Varner) Thomas. Survived by their children, Rodger J. Thomas Jr. (Penny); Trudy Rudnik (Mark); and Betsy Statler (Chuck); grandchildren, Shane (Lorie) Rudnik, Chad (Jessica) Rudnik; Tim Thomas, Adam (Kristi) Thomas; Troy Thomas (fiancé Shanna); Faith (Chris) Bollinger, Andrew (Molly) Statler; great grandchildren, Eli and Keira Rudnik; Carter and Colton Rudnik; Zoey and Brantley Thomas; Benson Thomas; Max and Skylar Vivian; Hannah Bollinger; and Ava and Blaire Statler. Also survived by sister, Donna Kodis, widow of Charles Kodis; uncle, Wes (Joanne) Berkebile; and special friend, Rose Ames, also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Also preceded in death by second wife, Betty (Baldwin) Thomas. Rodger was a man of great faith, served God as an associate Pastor formerly serving Berkey Church of the Brethren in Windber. At the request of Rodger, there will be no viewing. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral Service to begin 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 9th at Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, 1421 Clapboard Run Road Johnstown, PA 15904 with Rev. Ron Beachley, officiating. Private inurnment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home of Windber.
