Phyllis Soha Obituary

Phyllis Soha 1931 – 2020, Phyllis Mae Soha, 89, a resident of Florida and The Upper Peninsula of Michigan, passed away in peace on July 20, 2020. She was born in Crystal Falls, MI, the daughter of Aunie and Donald Johnson, and was married on September 24, 1949, in Montgomery, Alabama to Walter Michael Soha (Lt Colonel, US Air Force). Phyllis, or Nema (as her grandchildren called her) lived a full life of faith and service all over the world as she supported her loving Husband’s Military Career. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from the University of Georgia while living in Albany, GA, one of the many military stops in her life. She loved to interact with other people and help everyone she met. She was an amazing woman who was always positive, and left an impression on everyone she met. Everything she did in her life stemmed from her strong Faith in God, raised a Lutheran but later converting to Catholicism. She was not afraid of challenges, and always did what was best for other people with a selfless spirit. She loved her children, sports and travel. She had a very clear sense of right and wrong, and always displayed or encouraged people to do “what is right and what is good”. She is survived by her 5 sons, Walter Michael Soha Jr., Father Rod Soha TOR, Mark Soha, Chris Soha, and Gregg Soha, her 14 grandsons and 1 granddaughter, and 2 great grandsons. Phyllis Soha lived a life of Faith and Service, a life of laughs and achievements, a life based on “never giving up, never giving in and giving it all she had”. She always encouraged her grandchildren to live this way. She will be missed with love and we know she is together again in the Lord with her loving husband Walter of 54 years. Phyllis will be buried with Walter (WWII, Korea and Vietnam Veteran) at Arlington National Cemetery.
