Philomena Noel Obituary

Philomena Noel of Somerset Avenue, Windber died peacefully on November 3, 2020 at the age of 94 following a brief illness.  Philomena was born on July 5, 1926 in Cresson, PA, the daughter of the late Clotaire LeComte and late Angeline Roberts. Philomena is the sister of the late Samuel, Rosemarie Wilk, William, Janet Ray, Mary Lou Holland, and the late John. Philomena was the loving wife of her high school sweetheart Edgar Noel of 71 years.  She was the mother of Jackie (Quagliotti), Cathy (DeDea), the late Arlene (Ormsby), Wayne, and Joyce Noel.  She enjoyed her grandchildren Melissa, Michael (deceased), Paul, Frank, Danielle, Ashley, Amanda, Tonya, Rene, Brittany, Michael and Cory.  Philomena was also blessed with 11 great grandchildren. Philomena began her professional career in Washington DC, working at both the Pentagon and the Treasury Department, and her work frequently took her into the White House. Upon her return to Pennsylvania Philomena worked at the U S National Bank, US Steel, and the Crown American Corp. in Johnstown.  During her “retirement” she volunteered into her eighties at the John Murtha Cancer Center and Windber Wellness Center. Philomena was an accomplished cook, baker and seamstress, who still found time to play with her children and grandchildren.Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her children strong values that have served them well.   She was an active member at the Holy Child Jesus Catholic Church, and later the Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Windber. The Noel family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care provided to our Mother by the staff of the Forest Hills Personal Care Home and the AseraCare Hospice. The family will greet visitors at the Meek and Dalla Valle Funeral Home on Graham Avenue, Saturday, November 7, from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. departure for her Mass of Christian burial celebrated 11:00 a.m. at Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Windber, Fr. Larry Lacovic, followed by entombment at All Faiths Mausoleum, Richland Township.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Forest Hills Personal Care Home.
