DePolo, Phillip S., 88, Windber, passed away March 26, 2022 at Windber Hospital. Born June 30, 1933 in Windber, son of the late Philip and Grace E. (Smith) DePolo. Survived by loving wife of 61 years, Elaine (Pauley) DePolo, Windber; daughters, Tracy married to Rick Hanley, Windber; Shaley married to Bob Klepfer, Greenwood, SC; and Amy married to Scott Henderson, Archdale, NC; grandchildren, Erin Hanley, Phillip Klepfer, Dylan Klepfer, Nick Henderson and Kara Henderson, sister, Grace married to Bill Marlin, Indiana, PA; brothers, Richard DePolo married to Lillian, Windber; Robert DePolo married to Kathleen, Zelienople, PA; and Thomas DePolo married to Mary Lou, Beaver, WV. Phillip was a graduate of Windber High School in 1951. After graduation he enlisted and served two years in the US Army from 1954-1956. Once completing his military service, he pursued his teaching degree and graduated from St. Francis University in 1960. He taught and coached football and basketball at Windber High School, serving as the Windber Athletic Director until retirement in 1992. Phillip was also a PIAA State Official for football, basketball and baseball for over 30 years, where he had the honor of officiating the girls state championship game in 1988 at Hershey where Bishop McCort lost to Catasauqua High School. Phillip was inducted into the Windber Sports Hall of Fame in 1995 for his merit and dedicated service to the community. He was a devout Catholic, faithful life member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Windber. Phillip loved Windber, his memberships included the Abruzzi, Windber Sports and Windber American Legion. Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 28th at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home, Windber, where vigil service will be held. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 29th at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Windber, Fr. Rod, where military honors will be accorded by Windber VFW ritual team.
