Owen C. Custer

Custer, Owen C., 79, Windber, died July 9, 2023 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born June 28, 1944 in Johnstown. Son of Robert and Dora Custer. Preceded in death by parents, beloved son Garlan, brothers Robert and Wayne. He is survived by his wife Wanda May of Windber, son Jeffrey, and wife Kendra of Appling, GA and daughter Dorothy, wife of Joseph Jankowski of Port Charlotte, Fl. Grandchildren Kathryn, Benjamin, McKenna, Joseph and Courtney. Great-grandchildren Nyla, Maverick and one-on-the-way Max. Also brother to Anita Pesarchic. Owen was a Navy veteran where he served during Vietnam. He was a member of the Scalp Level Covenant Church where he sang in the choir. He worked hard all his life, was an avid reader and history buff and will always be remembered as a devoted husband, grandfather and man who loved the Lord. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Meek and Dalla Valle Funeral Home, Windber. Funeral will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday at Scalp Level Covenant Church, Windber. Pastor Mark Murchie, officiating. Interment Berkey Cemetery. Military graveside rites by Windber VFW Post 4795 ritual team. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to New Day Inc., in memory of Owen.
