Michael Lesinski Obituary

Lesinski, Michael E., 92, formerly of Richland Township, passed away April 30, 2023 after a short illness in Virginia Beach, VA. Mike was born August 31, 1930 in Johnstown, son of the late Wasyl and Mary (Evonic) Lesinski. Preceded in death by brother, Charles Linynski; sisters, Ann Johnson, Rose Wentz, and Patricia Dubil. Survived by loving wife of 66 years, Gwendolyn June (Freeman) Lesinski, Virginia Beach; sons, Michael Jr. married to Heather, Moyock, NC; and Stephen married to Jennifer, Virginia Beach; daughter, Michelle Moore, Virginia Beach; Grandchildren; Lisa and Edwin Campos, Brian and Alicha (Pope) Lesinski, , Adam and Danielle Lesinski, Thomas Lesinski, Luke and Emily Lesinski, Ryan Seftic, Michael Moore, Samatha Pfeifer; step grandchildren Connor and Brianna Chessick ;five great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Mike was a dedicated and proud family man. He took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He instilled in his children some of his greatest qualities which included family first, honesty, respect of others, and hard work. He was a “Gentleman’s” Gentleman unless it was raining…then it was every man for himself! He would always start his day singing a song and if he was off doing something you could hear him singing or whistling. He possessed a quick wit and was known for of his one liner.

Mike was a steelworker and retired from Bethlehem Steel, Rod and Wire Division with 36 years of service. After retirement he worked at the Richland Beer Distributor for another 20 years.

Mike was a longtime member of the Arbutus Church of the Brethren. He served as a deacon and was involved many committees and ministries of the church. He enjoyed many activities over the years; golfing with friends and family, he was a long-time member of the duck pin bowling league at Zip’s Lanes in Geistown, trout fishing at the Ogletown Sportsman’s Dam and particularly enjoyed family outings at Shawnee State Park where he was always the Grill Master. In the fall and the winter, he enjoyed watching Steelers football and Penguins hockey.

Family will receive friends Thursday, May 11th from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., funeral service immediately following at Arbutus Church of the Brethren 1201 Erickson Dr, Johnstown, PA. Pastors Guy Myers and Barron Deffenbaugh, officiating. Committal at All Faiths Chapel, Mausoleum & Cemetery, Richland Township. A Celebration of Life will be held in Virginia Beach at a later date. The family would like to thank the 3rd Floor nursing staff at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital for the exceptional care they provided. Arrangements entrusted to Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home of Windber.
