James Bubenko Obituary

Bubenko, James S., 72, Windber, passed away Jan. 16, 2021. Born Mar. 6, 1948 in Windber. Son of the late Alex and Mary (Geiger) Bubenko. Survived by wife of 48 years Barbara (Heller) and these children Matthew and wife Dawn, Windber, Stephanie, wife of Thomas Negrey, Windber, Rebecca, wife of Daniel Meeder, Glenshaw, PA, Joseph and wife Jennifer, Mt. Airy, MD. Grandchildren Tiffany, Madison, Ashley, Nathan and Kora. Great-grandsons Brantley and Bryson.  Also survived by Aunts Peggy Bubenko and Anna Mae Polasko and numerous cousins.  He will be very missed by his grand dog “Sammy” who could be found at his side every day. Member of Windber Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. James retired from Ameriserv Bank.  He was an honorary member of the Scalp Level Paint Fire Department and Relief Association with more than 50 years of service having held multiple positions.  A former police officer of the Paint Borough Police Department.  He was treasurer of the Eureka Coal Heritage Foundation and was one of the co-founders.  Formerly active in the American Legion Windber Post 137, Windber Rotary, and the Windber Rambler Camp. An army veteran of the Vietnam War.  Funeral services will be private. Arrangements by Meek and Dalla Valle Funeral Home, Windber. www.meekfuneralhome.com.
