Lesko, George D., 81, Windber, passed away May 4, 2022 at CCSMC at Windber, PA. Born June 15, 1940, in Rankin, PA. Son of Paul and Olga (Hritz) Lesko. Preceded in death by parents, 1st wife Gwendolyn Waggett, brother William Lesko, and son in law Tony Franciscus. Survived by wife Carol (King) Lesko, daughter Mary Franciscus, sons Terry Lesko (Kelley), Michael (Stacie), and John, grandchildren, Matthew Meredith, Ryan and Hannah Lesko, Samantha and Kimberly Franciscus, Michael, Jr.and Drew Lesko. After serving in the US Navy Air on four carriers, he attended Marietta College and the University of Pittsburgh pursuing a degree in geology. George went on to pursue a 35-year career in management with the SS Kresge Company (Kmart). After retiring to Windber, he was a member of Windber Moose, the American Legion, and the VFW where he served on the Ritual Squad. George was also a member of SS Peter and Paul Orthodox church. He lived a strong and purposeful life and touched the lives of many in our community. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 pm Thursday, May 12th at Meek and Dalla Valle Funeral Home, Windber, where Panachida will be held at 7 pm. The funeral service will be celebrated at 10 am Friday, May 13th at SS. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Windber. Fr. Miles Zdinak, pastor. Committal Rummel Cemetery, Windber.
