Wright, Frederick E., 89, Windber, died Jan. 9, 2019 at Windber Woods. Born June 12, 1929 in East Conemaugh, PA. Son of George B. and Fanny C. (Nicholls) Wright. Preceded in death by parents, infant brother Robert Edwin, brother Ralph and sisters Twila Frame and Mary Darl Mastrine. Survived by wife Joanne L. (Phillips) and these children Karen, wife of Anthony Turcato, Dr. Kimberly Sinha and wife Courtney, Amy, wife of James Cobaugh and David. Grandchildren Nicholas and Mark Turcato, Amanda Sinha (Nicholas Wood) and Eleanor Sinha. Great-granddaughter Athena Wood and step-great-grandchildren Livia and Talys Wood. Fred was the last surviving member of his immediate family. A 1947 graduate of East Conemaugh High School. Attended Cambria-Rowe Business School. Served 4 years in the US Navy, 18 months during the Korean War at Atsugi, Japan. Employed 28 years as supervisor, roll department at Bethlehem Steel Corp. Also employed 5 winters at the Somerset Public Energy Assistance Office. Volunteered as an income tax preparer for Windber Center for Life. Donated over 11 gallons of blood until diagnosed with cancer of which he was a 30 year survivor. Member of Scalp Level Trinity United Methodist Church, Windber, where he taught Sunday School for over 50 years. He loved to garden and was known as the “Tulip Man.” The family would like to express thanks to Windber Woods, the former Church of the Brethren Home and Windber Hospice for their excellent care. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Friday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc., Windber and from 10 until time of service at 11 am Saturday at Scalp Level Trinity UMC, Windber.
