SAM-Eugene, 87, a former Windber resident, went to be with the lord on December 29th, 2021. He lived in Ebensburg, but his heart never left Windber. Born December 7th, 1934, to Andy (Aneblio Salvatore) and Domencia (Velotti) Sam. He lived a colorful life, beginning in Mine 35. After graduating from high school, he joined the Air Force. When returning from the Air Force, he took a job at L. Robert Kimball and Associates, and worked at Kimball’s for 36 years. During his career, he also breed and raised Brittany Spaniels, and taught at St Francis College in Loretto PA. “Sam” enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and coin collecting. Sam and his brothers would say “I’ll be careful, but I won’t be good”. He was also a member of the Ebensburg VFW and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Lou (Smethurst) Sam; his daughter, Jeanne Lombard and her husband Gerald Lombard Pittsburgh Pa; grandson, Jason Bradley of Altoona; and granddaughter, Alicia Richardson and her husband Brandon Richardson, of Chicago Illinois; sister in law’s, June Sam, Boone, of North Carolina; Dona Sam, of Denver, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Louis, Carl, John and Josephine; and several beloved pets. Sam is the last of a generation. Sam will be missed by many. His love of life and zest for life will live on. Sam was a devout Catholic, faithful member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg. Family will receive friends Friday, January 7th from Noon until his Funeral mass celebrated 1:00 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Windber, Fr. Rod.
