Edgar “Ned” Noel of Somerset Avenue, Windber, died peacefully on June 13, 2020 at the age of 96, at the Forest Hills Personal Care Home in Sidman, PA. Ned was born on February 7, 1924 in Munster, PA, the son of the late Frank and Catherine (Huber) Noel. Ned is the brother of Mary Jane (Delise), the late Francis, George, Kenny, Peggy (Alfino) and Ann (Barber).
Ned was the loving husband of his high school sweetheart Philomena (LeComte) Noel of 71 years. He was the father of Jackie (Quagliotti), Cathy (DeDea), the late Arlene (Ormsby), Wayne, and Joyce Noel. He enjoyed his grandchildren Melissa, Michael (deceased), Frank, Danielle, Ashley, Paul, Amanda, Tonya, Rene, Brittany, Michael and Corey. Ned was also blessed with 14 great grandchildren.
Ned proudly served in the US Army during World War II. In his early years he worked on the family farm in Munster, PA. Following his military service he was the manager of several shoe stores.
Ned was a dedicated family man who set an example of faith, honesty, hard work and service to others. He was an active member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Windber, and volunteered at many parish activities well into his nineties. He also volunteered at the Windber Brethren Home and was one of the original Koot Cart drivers, taking local residents to medical appointments, some as far away as in Pittsburgh. He was a long time member of the Windber Argument Club and the Windber Holy Name Society.
The Noel family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care provided to our Dad by the staff of the Forest Hills Personal Care Home and the Asera Care Hospice.
The family will greet visitors at the Meek and Dalla Valle Funeral Home on Graham Avenue from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Friday, June 19th, where vigil for the deceased will be held. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, June 20th, 2020, 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Windber, Fr. Larry Lacovic, followed by committal with military rites by Windber VFW at All Faiths Chapel & Mausoleum, Richland Township. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to either the Forest Hills Personal Care Home or Ascera Care Hospice.
