Teich, Dr. Alan H., of Westmont, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on December 2, 2023. A native of Levittown, New York, he was on the faculty of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown campus, since 1987 in the Department of Psychology, retiring last summer. He raised his family in Westmont, and was active in the sports program, founding and coaching the university lacrosse team, a sport for which he had a life-long love. He also ran the Hugs family counseling program, treated and assisted local military Veterans, and served as president of his Synagogue, Beth Sholom Congregation. Alan was a longtime devoted volunteer and key participant of the Johnstown Concert Ballet.
He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Diane; his mother, Sonia; children, Sarah Teich (Dan Kennedy), Daniel Teich, Jimmie Antal, Tracey Antal (Michael Weaver), and Meghan Antal. He also leaves behind grandchildren, Ashley, Caitlyn, Jordan, Brandon, Bella, Ariauna, Ayla, and Ezra, as well as brother, Stephen (Susan). He was loved by many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert and sister, Marjorie. Alan will be greatly missed by family and a large collection of friends and colleagues both locally and from his youth, especially “The Boys”, high school friends with whom he reunited with regularly.
Friends are welcome to attend his Celebration of Life to be held at a place dear to his heart from 2 to 4 p.m. & 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 7th at the J. Irving Whalley Memorial Chapel located at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown Campus, 450 Schoolhouse Road Johnstown, PA 15904. Burial services will be held privately for the family with his dear friend, Rabbi Irvin Brandwein at All Faiths Chapel, Mausoleum and Cemetery, Richland Township. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home of Windber.
