Brian Joseph Soyka

SOYKA- Brian Joseph, 62, Windber, PA departed at Conemaugh Hospital October 12, 2021 unexpectedly from suspected heart conditions. Born and raised in Windber, PA on January 18, 1959, son of the late Joseph Soyka and Helen (Paskovich) Soyka.; Preceded in death by parents and the late Marlene (Nyda) Soyka (loving wife, who passed this April). Survived by loving brother, Mark Soyka, and sister Karen (Soyka) Martynuska. Loving father of and survived by Stephanie (Soyka) Merberger married to Brett Merberger, Ferndale, PA, Chad Soyka, Raleigh, NC, and Danielle Soyka, Columbus, OH; grandchildren Raiden, Jeremiah, Preston, Bentley, and Bryan Merberger. Brian was known for his love to be outdoors, and enjoyed hobbies such as fishing and hunting (especially with his grandsons). A 1976 graduate of Windber Area High School. Brian worked at Highland Sewer Water Authority for over 25 years. He was known to put family over anything. Devoted member of St. Mary’s (Dormition) Byzantine Catholic Church, Windber, where Divine Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 16. Fr. Ivan Rusyn, pastor. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Friday, October 15 and from 9 to 9:45 am, prior to the service Saturday at Meek and Dalla Valle Funeral Home, Windber.
