Rodney E. "Yogi" Shaffer

Shaffer, Rodney E., “Yogi,” 62, Windber. Passed away Nov. 27, 2019. Born April 30, 1957 in Harrisburg, PA. Son of Frank and Nellie (Weaver) Shaffer. Preceded in death by parents, brothers Frank, Butch and Buster. Survived by wife Rosemary (Kostick) Shaffer and son Corey E. Shaffer, married to Ashley (Livingston) and 3 grandchildren Blake, Aubrey and Grace. Sister Esther, wife of Donald Nerat, Carlisle, PA and sister-in-law Julie Shaffer, Windber. Also numerous nieces and nephews. Member Windber Church of the Brethren. Army Veteran, where he served in the 82nd Airborne Division from 1975-1981. He worked at the Walmart distribution center in Bedford and was a car salesman for Dewars, Watkins and Team Chevrolet for many years. Rodney enjoyed spending time with his family, camping out at the cabin, hunting, fishing, taking rides on the side by side and spending time with wonderful friends. Special thanks to Mark Vann, the rest of the “skinny” crew, the members of his church and all who came and visited him during his 2 year battle with brain cancer. The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 pm Monday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc., Windber. Funeral will be held at 11 am Tuesday at Windber Church of the Brethren. Pastor Joe Brown, officiating. Military rites by Windber VFW Post 4795. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to his family in care of Rosemary Shaffer, 3113 Dark Shade Dr., Windber, PA 15963 in memory of Yogi.
