Rev. Donald G. Eller, Sr.

The Rev. Donald G. Eller, Sr., age 85, Johnstown, formerly of Windber died peacefully July 13, 2019 at the Cambria Care Center in Ebensburg.  He was born on March 3,1934 in Johnstown to the now deceased Oscar H. Eller, Sr. and Caroline (Brunnet) Eller-Swaney.  He was also preceded in death by wife former Barbara Mishler on Jan. 25, 2009, infant twins Carol and Connie, brother Oscar H. Eller, Jr., Matthew Eller, sister Elizabeth Tamborello, and step-father W.C. Swaney, Sr.

Survived by these children: Christie Eller, Johnstown, Caroline, wife of Mark Goller, Johnstown, Cynthia, wife of David Studer, Boswell, Catherine (Terry Welch) Eller, Central City, Donald G Eller, Jr., Johnstown, Melissa Eller, San Francisco, and granddaughter Angela, wife of William Polenik, Johnstown, whom Don and Barbara raised. Other grandchildren include Tausha, Cara, Dylan, Marcus, and April. Great grandchildren include Ariel, Grace, Ben, Brooke, Mason, Lainey, and Remi. Don was the brother of W. Charles "Chuck" (Carol) Swaney, and Barbara Urban, both of Johnstown. Also survived by sisters-in-law Gloria Eller, widow of Oscar, and Kay Wadsworth, widow of Arthur Wadsworth, Friedens. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Don, was a self-employed electronics repairman, at one point in his life, but spent most of his life as a minister in the Church of the Nazarene for nearly 40 years. Most of his ministry was spent in Windber where he was the pastor of the Windber Church of the Nazarene for 28 years.  He also headed the Salvation Army in Windber as well as spending many years as a hospice volunteer.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday July 17th at the funeral home where his funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with The Rev. David McGee, officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contribution to Don's family to assist with final expenses.
