Dayton, Paul M., 92, Windber, passed away January 10, 2020 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born November 25, 1927 in Scalp Level. Son of Harry and Ada (Logue) Dayton. Preceded in death by parents, wife Opal (Speicher), son Walter “Buz” Parks, infant son John and grandson Garlan Custer. Siblings Harry, Joseph, Robert, George and Doris Clark. Survived by these children Wanda, wife of Owen Custer, Windber, Linda, wife of Steven Benza, Windber, Diane, wife of Robert Walker, Jr., Windber, Harry and wife Lee, Windber, Paul Jr., and wife Loretta, Ohio; and Tina Wendell, Windber. 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and sister Elizabeth Thomas. Also numerous nieces, nephews and sister-in-laws. Paul was a lifelong member of Scalp Level Church of the Brethren, Windber. Retired coal miner from Island Creek Coal Co., Tirehill. Army veteran Korean Conflict. Paul was an avid gardener and devoted husband, father and grandfather. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc. Windber, where funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday. Pastors Mark Murchie and Ronald St. Clair, officiating. Interment Richland Cemetery. Military graveside rites by Windber VFW Post 4795.
