Opal M. Dayton

Dayton, Opal M., 88, Windber, passed away August 9, 2018 at Windber Hospital. Born October 22, 1929 in Hollsopple, daughter of the late John and Hazel (Hassenphlug) Speicher. Preceded in death by sons, Walter Parks and infant John; grandson, Garlan Custer. Survived by loving husband, Paul M. Dayton, Windber; children, Harry married to Lee Ann, Windber; Paul Jr. married to Loretta, Ohio; Wanda married to Owen Custer, Linda married to Steve Benza, Diane married to Robert Walker, and Tina Wendell, all of Windber; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; siblings, John Speicher married to Dorothy, TX; Walter Speicher married to Norma, Lancaster; Daisy Schroyer married to Bob, Johnstown; Martha Trevarrow, Hooversville; and Leona Eichelburger, Lancaster; also by numerous nieces and nephews. Opal was a nurse’s aide retiring from the Church of the Brethren Home, Windber, and was a faithful member of Scalp Level Church of the Brethren, Windber. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc. Windber, where funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday with Rev. Ron St. Clair and Rev. Mark Murchie, officiating. Interment Richland Cemetery.
