Olive Baker Obituary

Baker, Olive A. 87 Born in Windber on  12/20/1931, while listening to her favorite hymns she peacefully took the hand of her Savior and walked thru heaven’s gates into her loved ones arms on 12/05/2019.  Preceded in death by parents Wresley and Irene Berkey, her husband of 24 years Ralph Baker, her brothers Leonard and Hobert, sisters Bernice Ott, Neva Wise and Florence Brick.Survived by daughters Cathy (wife of Ed Lovato) and Patti (wife of Scott Kissinger) along with grandchildren Erin, Jonathan (married to Danielle), Katie Lovato, Jazmin and Joshua Sanchez, and Kian Kissinger. Also survived by 5 great grandchildren (Grace, Ava, Sawyer, Jaxson and Oliver), brother Marlin (husband to Jean) and sisters Lois (wife to Sonny Swanger) Marian (widow of Harry Yoder), Donna (wife to Robert Koot) and Janet (widow of Allen Kushto) and numerous nieces and nephews. Olive (Ollie) was loved by all who knew her, she had an infectious smile and amazing contagious laugh. She loved to make others happy, and was called Jolly Ollie by many. Olive served as a missionary to Mexico for over 15 years  in many capacities where she was able to touch many lives; especially those of children in the orphanages she worked. Upon returning to PA in 1989 she worked as a nurse’s aide at the Church of the Brethren Home until retirement. She loved volunteering, sewing and quilting, she enjoyed singing with her sisters and in the choir. She had a servant’s heart and always  loved to do things for others. She was a graduate of Windber High School.Olive was a member of Rummel Church of the Brethren and served as a deacon.Per Olive’s request there will be no visitation. Memorial service will be planned at a later date and Inurnment will be private in Waynesboro PA alongside of her late husband Ralph. Special thanks to the nursing staff at Country Manor Living and Heartland Hospice for their care of Olive.
