Michael J. Spinazzola

82, Windber, passed away August 6, 2018 at Windber Hospice. Born May 27, 1936 in Windber, son of the late Michael and Helen (Vespa) Spinazzola. Preceded in death by wife, Elaine Spinazzola; brothers, Nunzio and Joseph; sisters, Esther and Betty. Survived by son, Michael, Westminster, MD; and daughter, Maria wife of Scott Fisher, Windber; grandsons, William and Matthew Fisher who he cherished above all others. Also by brother, Daniel Spinazzola and wife Donna, Brookville, Pa; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Michael served in the US Air Force prior to attending Concord University majoring in Secondary Education. Michael taught at Pittsburgh Central Catholic School and then relocated to Windber in 1965 where he taught science at Windber Area High School until retirement in 1992. Michael also coached a variety of sports while at Windber including Track, Basketball and Football. He was also the eighth grade class advisor. An avid gardener, Michael enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with friends and family. He was a lifelong member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Windber where funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Friday, Fr. Rod, TOR. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc. Windber, where vigil service will be held in the evening. Committal at St. Anthony Cemetery with military rites by Windber VFW.
