Martha (Zayac) Makuch

Makuch, Martha, 90, Windber died Nov. 12, 2019 at home. Born Aug. 5, 1929 in Windber daughter of the now late George and Susan (Thach) Zayac. Also preceded in death by husband Andrew, and 14 brothers and sisters. Survived by son Andrew and wife Deborah, Manassas, VA, and daughter Veronica, wife of Mark Heckler, Valparaiso, IN. Loving grandmother to Zachary (Courtney) Jocelyn (Evan) Earnest-Heckler, Miranda (Clifford) Jack, Susanne (Jonathan) Johnson, & Stephen (Laura) Makuch.  Also survived by 10 great grandchildren and one “on the way”.

Retired from Bestform Foundations. Martha volunteered with the American Red Cross blood drives, and at the Arcadia Theatre. She also enjoyed doing several guest cooking appearances on a local cable channel. She also sewed vestments for the clergy of her church. She was an active member of SS. Peter & Paul’s Orthodox Christian Church, Windber where funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. preceded by brief service at 10:30 at the funeral home. Very Rev. Fr. Miles Zdinak, pastor. Interment church cemetery. Friends received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home, Inc., where Panachida will be held at 7:00 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blind & Vision Rehabilitation Services of Pittsburgh (bvrspittsburgh.org) in Martha’s memory.
