Jo Ann (Adams) Nolan

Nolan, Jo Ann, 83, Windber (Scalp Level), died Dec. 7, 2017 at Windber Hospice. Born May 31, 1934 in Johnstown to the late Sylvester and Elizabeth (Goodman) Adams. Also preceded in death by dear son Michael. Jo Ann is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Michael "Mickey"; daughter, Lee, married to Harry Dayton, Windber, son, Paul, engaged to Kris Bleicher, both of East Freedom,  daughter-in-law Anita (Walker) Nolan,  Windber,  sister (Thelma) Jane Morgan, Johnstown, and brother Robert Layton, and wife Grace, Shawnee, Kansas.
She graduated from Johnstown High School in 1952 and subsequently worked at Penn Furniture. She married Michael Nolan in 1958 and then devoted herself to being a full-time mother of three children. After raising her family, Jo Ann went back to work for Toy Ladies for several years as a statistician, and then for Sears as a customer service rep.
Jo Ann- also known as "Penny" from her many active years in the CB radio community- enjoyed spending time with her family most of all, and following friends and family on Facebook. A kind soul, she was ever mindful of the feelings of others and put their needs above her own and never complained, even when she was very ill. Jo Ann was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and loved going to Saturday night service with her daughter and son-in-law.
The family will receive friends on Monday December 11, 2017 from 4 p.m. until time of service at  7 p.m. at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home, Inc., Windber. Entombment at Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to either Windber Hospice or Emmanuel Baptist Church in Jo Ann’s memory.
