Lehman, Jerry Wayne, “Dook”, 77, Windber died Sept. 22, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center Palliative Care Unit. Born July 28, 1942 in Johnstown son of the now late Joseph “Dean” and Florence M (Shaffer) Lehman. Also preceded in death by beloved son Joseph in 2005. Survived by loving wife of 44 years former Mary Elizabeth Plows, and son Kevin, married to the former Jacqueline Thomas, and beloved grandson McCoy Joseph Lehman, Windber. Brother of Gary, and wife Patricia, New Tripoli, PA. Uncle to Bryan Lehman and wife Debbie, Warrenton, VA, Susan DeResh, and husband Larry, Montrose, NY, Kathleen Plows, West Chester, and Nichole Fehrman and husband Eric, Westlake, OH. Brother-in-law to David and Nance Plows, St. Mary’s, PA. Dook graduated from WAHS. He worked for GTE and Verizon retiring after 34 years of service. Army veteran of Viet Nam War and member of Windber Post 4795, VFW where he was a member of the ritual team. Honorary member of Windber Fire Co. as well as past president. Dook enjoyed watching the Pirates, Steelers and Penguins but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandson, McCoy. Member of Rummel Church of the Brethren where funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday. Pastor Ruby Mader, officiating. Interment Berkey Cemetery with military graveside rite by Windber VFW Ritual Team. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home, Inc., where deacons’, VFW, and Windber Fire Co. services will be held in the evening.
