Irene H. Molnar

Molnar, Mrs. Irene “Rene” H. (Chmiel), 90, Windber, passed away June 10, 2017 at Rosewood Assisted Living Facility, Richland. Born Oct. 11, 1926 in Mine 37. Daughter of John and Eleanor (Czarnecki) Chmiel. Preceded in death by parents, husband Stephen A., brothers Joseph, George, and Stanley (infant) and sisters Catherine Cox, Mary Mooney, Ann “Toni” Askey, and Nellie Shuster. Also grandson William. Survived by sons Stephen Molnar and wife Kathleen, and John Molnar and wife Lena, both of Kailua, Hawaii. Grandchildren Tara, Matthew, Jamie, David, Jennifer, Johnna and 10 great-grandchildren. Siblings Amelia “Millie” (Welch) and Theodore “Ted” of New Jersey. Also brother-in-law John Askey and numerous nieces and nephews. Rene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who enjoyed cooking, baking and canning. She was a strong and hardworking woman who, together with her hard working husband Steve, built their own home from the ground up! She had a contagious laugh and wonderful smile. Rene had many jobs including being a carhop at the old Ripples Drive-In in Richland, a baker at Callen’s Bakery in Windber and was most proud of having been a defense worker and welder during WWII. Member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Windber. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, Friday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home, Inc., Windber, followed by funeral Mass at 1:00 pm at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
