Seibert, Evelyn Marie (Anderson), 89, of Onalaska, Wis., and formerly of Erie, Pa., passed away March 6, 2018, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse. Marie was born in Windber, Pa., on June 22, 1928, to Oscar and Emelia (Olson) Anderson. After graduation from high school, she worked at the Wilmore Coal Company. Evelyn married Carl Martin Seibert on July 22, 1950, and they subsequently moved to Erie where they spent the majority of their 61 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on October 6, 2011. Marie was a stay-at-home mom who devoted her limitless energy to the well-being of her family. She was a long-standing member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Erie, and more recently of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in West Salem, Wis. Marie and Carl were active members of the Cardiac Fitness Club of Erie, where she served on the Board for many years. She enjoyed her “Lucky Strikes” bowling team, where she also established many lasting friendships. She was known for her smile, her quick wit, and her perfectionist ways. Marie is survived by her children, Marsha (William) Bateman of West Salem, Wis., Karen Jernigan of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Donald (Theresa) Seibert of Huntington, W.V.; grandchildren, Allen (Jessica) Bateman, Sarah (Curtis) McLeod, David (Justine) Bateman, Steve (Beverly) Jernigan, Chad (Ronda) Sturgill, Trenton Sturgill, Martin Seibert, and Kelsey Seibert; also by nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who knew her as “Aunt Toots.” In addition to her husband, Marie was preceded in death by infant son, David Anderson Seibert; siblings, Ruth, Emil, Ethel, Alvin, Robert, and Arthur; son-in-law, Larry Jernigan; and granddaughter, Stephanie Smith. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, at Meek and Dalla Valle Funeral Home in Windber, Pa., with Pastor Ruth Jensen officiating. Visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorials may be given to the charity of one’s choice. Online condolences may be offered at www.meekfuneralhome.com.
