Charles W. "Bill" Barzensky

Barzensky, Charles W. “Bill,” 91, Windber, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 15, 2017 at home. Born Apr. 18, 1926 in Mine 40, Windber. Son of Michael and Hadwig (Szurbela) Barzensky. Preceded in death by parents and siblings John, Joseph, Stanley, Walter, Michael, Phillip, Catherine Tuomisto, Genevieve Yope, Helen Shattuck, and Betty Bray. Survived by loving wife of 64 years Anna Marie (Gerfy) and these children John, married to Christine (Schock), Port Carbon, PA, William, married to Anna (Barwatt), Johnstown, and Paul, married to Diane (Raley). Grandchildren Jonathan and wife Rikki, Catrina Garcia, Jacquelyn, Jordan, and Evan. Great-grandchildren Christopher, Isabelle, and Abigail Garcia, Ava and Liam Barzensky. Sister Virgina Partsch, sisters-in-law Marty and husband Paul McNamara and Louise Smith and brother-in-law John Paul Gerfy. Also numerous nieces and nephews, especially niece Barbara. Member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Windber, Windber VFW Post 4795 and American Legion Post 137. Army veteran WWII. Special thanks to the staff and management of Quaker Steak and Lube for being a special help and friend to “Bill.” And thanks to all the people and businesses that tolerated our dad “dumpster diving,” lest we forget, will be missed by loving friend and companion “Blackie.” The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Monday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc., Windber, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 pm Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Windber. Fr. Rod Soha, TOR, pastor. Committal All Faiths Chapel and Mausoleum, Windber. Military graveside rites by Windber VFW Post 4795. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to either St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church or Windber VFW Post 4795 in memory of Bill.
