Anna Marie (Gerfy) Barzensky

BARZENSKY-Anna Marie, 93, Windber, passed away peacefully on Jan. 1, 2019. Born Feb. 7, 1925 in Windber. Daughter of Paul and Elizabeth (Kurty) Gerfy. Preceded in death by parents and husband Charles William “Bill” Barzensky. Survived by sisters Martha “Marty” MacNamara and husband Paul, Waynesboro, PA and Louise, wife of the late Melvin Smith, Pittsburgh and brother Paul Gerfy and wife Doris, East Wenatchee, WA. Also sister-in-law Virginia Partsch and very special niece Barbara and all other nieces and nephews that thru the years were loved by Anna Marie. Also survived by sons John, married to Christine (Schock), Port Carbon, PA, William “Bill,” married to Anna (Barwatt), Johnstown, and Paul, married to Diane (Raley). Grandchildren Jonathan and wife Rikki, Catrina Garcia, Jacquelyn, Jordan, and Evan. Great-grandchildren Christopher, Isabelle, and Abigail Garcia, Ava and Liam Barzensky. Anna Marie was a supporter of the local VFW’s and American Legion’s, by being involved in their Ladies Auxiliary. She was formerly employed by    local businesses, a radio station and Windber Hospital as a bookkeeper. She will be sadly missed by her sons, siblings and their families. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm Friday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc., Windber, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am Saturday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Windber. Fr. Rod Soha, TOR, pastor. Committal All Faiths Chapel and Mausoleum, Windber. In lieu of flowers contribution may be made to the Windber VFW Post 4795 in memory of Anna Marie.
