Ohler, Simon E. “Red,” 73, Windber, passed away August 22, 2020. Born in Llanfair February 24, 1947 to Norman and Isabelle (Postgate) Ohler,. Preceded in death by parents, son Harold, sister Carol, brother George, and father in law Joseph Kovach. Survived by wife Kelly (Kovach) Ohler. Also survived by children Jeffrey Scott, Norman Ohler (Zoe), Donna Plummer (Joe), Douglas Ohler, Darla Zallar (Damon), Jason Miller, Noah Ohler, Seth Ohler and Sam Ohler; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; siblings Diana Mazur, Gene Ohler (Mim), Betty Hadix, John Ohler (Lori); mother in law Arlene Kovach and brother in law Mark Kovach. Red attended Adams-Summerhill school before enlisting in the United States Army where he served in Korea and Vietnam. After serving his country, he was a loving father and grandfather, who was employed as a foreman at Longwall Mine and a longtime employee at Ohler’s Service in Windber. Red served as a former Windber Mayor and Councilman and was a longstanding member of the Dunlo American Legion Post 573. Red enjoyed hunting on the Benning farm, fishing at Lake Glendale, camping with family and was a fan of Windber Rambler football and Pirates baseball. Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home will be receiving friends and family from 4pm to 8pm on Friday, August 28, 2020 with the funeral service at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 29, 2020.
