June Nagy Obituary

June M. Nagy, 88, of Windber, PA, passed away on August 5 at the Windber Hospice, surrounded by family. June was born on June 17, 1932, in Windber, PA, to Mary Parks Solden and Alfred Solden.  She always loved the hometown in which she was born and raised.  She attended school in the Windber School District, and upon graduation, enrolled in the Mercy Hospital Nursing Program in Johnstown, PA, where she became certified as a registered nurse.  Shortly after, on April 23, 1955, she married Stephen J. (Pishta) Nagy, to whom she was married for 55 years.  During this time, they raised three children, and she began her nursing career at Windber Hospital, where she worked in the men’s ward for 17 years. She had a passion for nursing, and gave great care to many in her time there.  She decided to pursue another type of nursing after this, and worked as a nursing supervisor for many years thereafter at the Church of the Brethren Home in Windber, caring for the elderly. June loved her profession and was well-respected by her co-workers and patients alike. In her younger days, June enjoyed being in a bowling league with her friends.  She was an avid reader and loved to cook and bake. She was a wonderful mother and wife, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family, having picnics, playing games, and going on trips to casinos and to see family. She enjoyed watching and cheering for the  Steelers and Pirates. Her faith and church had always been an important part of her life. Her great spirit and sense of humor will be missed by all. June will be remembered by her children: Stephanie (Nagy) Steinly (spouse Larry Steinly) of Thurmont, MD;  Donald Nagy (spouse Vicki Nagy) of Johnstown, PA; and David Nagy (spouse Cindy Nagy) of Severn MD. She will be missed by her brother, Kenneth Solden, of Madison, Ohio, grandchildren, Julia Steinly, Jackson Steinly, Savannah Steinly, Erika Nagy, and Amanda Aiken, as well as her great-grandchildren, Layla Aiken and Kierynn Lewis. She will also be remembered by her good friend William (Bunker) Rainey of Ohio. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 9, at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home, Windber, where vigil service will be held. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 10, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Windber, Fr. Larry Lacovic. Committal St. Mary’s Cemetery, Windber.
