Alan Glenn Lichtenfels, 57, of Johnstown, PA, passed away Tuesday, July 5th at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center after a short, but very well fought, battle with cancer. The son of Mervin and Roberta (nee. Bennett) Lichtenfels, Alan was born March 1, 1965, in Indiana, PA. Alan was a 1983 graduate of Blairsville High School and held several culinary jobs before joining The Rosebud Inn of Johnstown in 1992. Alan has been an employee of The Rosebud Inn for the last 30 years where he has held many responsibilities as a manager, chef, and waiter. He was beloved by Rosebud Inn customers who looked forward to seeing Alan at the restaurant and often commented on his kindness and wit. When Alan was not working, he enjoyed vacationing at the beach and watching home renovation shows. Alan is survived by his best friend of 30 years, Roscoe Pritt, of Johnstown; a brother, Timothy Lichtenfels (Cindy) of Lower Burrell, PA; a sister, Joni Melnick, of Blairsville, PA; and a niece, Lauren Melnick, of Cleveland, OH. He is preceded in death by both of his parents and his brother-in-law, James Melnick, in November 2021. Per Alan’s wishes, there will be no services.
