Robert L. "Buzz" Statler died July 4, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center. Born June 19, 1933 in Windber son of the late Herron E. and Verna M. (Younker) Statler. Also preceded in death by sister Janis Craig. Survived by wife of 63 years former Janet Smith, son Kenneth, and daughter Sheree, all of Windber. Loving grandfather to Matthew (Erika) and great grandson Archer, Davidsville. Brother of Janet Oldham-Wissinger, and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Buzz was a retired steelworker and an avid sportman. His favorite place to be was at the "river" where he shared his gift of gab and humor. He will always be remembered and the local clubs as their favorite Santa. Member of Rummel Church of the Brethren. Army veteran of Korean War. Friends received from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Pastor Ruby Mader officiating.Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choosing in Buzz's memory.
