William R. Hughes

Hughes, William R., 89, Windber, Passed away Jan. 22, 2018 at Richland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born July 7, 1928 in Houtzdale, PA. Son of John C., and Margaret L. Hughes. Preceded in death by parents, brother John S., and sister Jean O’Malley and her husband James F. Survived by brother Thomas R. Hughes, State College, nieces Margaret A. O’Malley, Jean M. Songer, Christine J. Meyer, Beth Avery, Kathy Anderson, Nancy Cowan, nephews Patrick Hughes, Michael Hughes, and Chris Hughes. Sister-in-law Marjorie Hughes. Member Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Windber. Bill served in the US Army of Occupation of West Germany, 1951 and 1952 as tank commander in the 2^nd armored division. He was an attorney and practiced law with the late Archibald M. Matthews of Somerset, for many years.
