Violet Ann (Vizi) Gladis

Gladis, Violet A., “Vi”, 75, Windber went to be with the Lord on May 8, 2016 at UPMC, Pittsburgh.  Born Feb. 23, 1941 in Windber daughter of the late Albert Balla Vizi and Viola (Bollinger) Vizi.  Also preceded in death by loving husband Richard, brother Albert “Toby” Vizi, sister Lillian Smith, infant brother Ernest, and sister-in-law Margaret Vizi.

Survived by loving daughter Sabrina Uebel, Windber, and special friend Joseph Eckenrod, Johnstown.  Loving grandmother "Buba" to Taylor Uebel.  Also survived by brother-in-law William Smith, Blairsville. Beloved aunt and great aunt to numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and  great nephews.

Also enjoyed her time with her “Polka Buddies”- Lore Haddenham, Helen Steinbach, Millie Mattis, and the late Bonnie Boyer.

Owner/operator of the former Vi's Specialties, Windber and enjoyed tending bar at several local establishments throughout the years. She belonged to various social clubs and enjoyed participating in numerous political activities.  Currently serving as Maylor of Scalp Level Boro since 2006 where she was the first female Mayor. Violet enjoyed serving her community.  

Member of Scalp Level Church of the Brethren. Her faith in God was strong. 

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home, Inc., Windber where service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday.  The Rev. Ronald St. Clair, officiating.

Interment St. Mary’s RC Cemetery, Windber.
