Ruth M. Riley

Riley, Mrs. Ruth M., 102, Windber, passed away Aug. 4, 2017 at Richland Healthcare and Rehabilitation. Born May 29, 1915 in Windber. Daughter of Harry and Edna Pearl (Fyock) Shaffer. Preceded in death by parents, step-mother Elizabeth Gertrude (Clapper) Shaffer, 1^st Husband Albert W. Hostetler, who died in 1976, 2^nd husband Evan Riley, who died in 2004, and son-in-law Richard E. Wirick, who died in 1981. Survived by these children Clarice J., wife of Rodney Campbell, A. Barry Hostetler, married to the former Dorothy Hritz, and Suzanne K., wife of Victor Partsch, all of Windber. Grandchildren Jamie S. Wirick, Cayuta, NY, Kelley, wife of Glenn Free, Greencastle, Kirstie, wife of Shannon Brown, Roanoke, Va, Barry S. Hostetler and wife Lisa, Windber and Daniel S. Hostetler and wife Erin, State College. 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Lifelong member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Windber, where she played the organ for over 50 years. Ruth was also a member of the Windber Fire Co., Ladies Auxillary, Windber Rotary Anns, and Allegheny Lutheran Ladies Auxillary for over 60 years. She was an elementary school teacher at Windber Area School District for over 50 years.  She traveled to all 50 states and organized bus trips for Riley’s Recycled Seniors for 20 years. The family would like to thank Richland Healthcare and Rehabilitation for their excellent care of Ruth. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm, Sunday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc., Windber and from 10 until time of service at 11 am, Monday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Windber.
