Mildred A. (Solgan) Battiste

Battiste, Mildred A. “Millie”, 88, Windber died peacefully April 19, 2017 at home. Born July 28, 1928 in Johnstown daughter of the late Louis and Catherine (Kravetz) Solgan.  Also preceded in death by infant son John, and brother Robert L. Solgan.

Survived by husband of 65 years John Battiste, and daughters Louise Thompson, & Bernadette Kraynick, & fiance’ Mike, all of Canton, OH. Loving grandmother to Stephanie (Marc) Blough, & John (Alexis) Thompson.  Also great grandmother to Lillian Grace Thompson. Sister to Walter A. “Whitey” Solgan, and fiancee’ Joan Parke, Johnstown. Sister-in-law to Patricia (Wilcox) Solgan, Green Brook, NJ. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Millie’s interest included playing bingo, cards, and cooking for her family. Member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Windber  where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday.  Fr. Rod Soha, TOR, pastor. Committal at church cemetery mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Church in Millie’s memory.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home, Inc., Windber where vigil for the deceased will be held.
