Mary D. Karkosky

KARKOSKY – Mrs. Mary D., 93, Windber, passed away Nov. 25, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born Nov. 4, 1922, in Windber, daughter of Emelio and Carmella (DiMarchi) DeMarco. Preceded in death by parents; first husband, John Molchany; and husband, Stanley “Stush” Karkosky; also siblings, Anna Naylor, Sue Caputo and Ralph DeMarco. Survived by siblings, Emil, and wife, Nancy (Leone), Daytona Beach, Fla.; Joanne, wife Ed Dallape, Ferndale; Anthony, and wife, Rita (Lampe), Southmont; and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Windber, where she was a member of the ladies guild and volunteered with many church activities. Mary was given a certificate for voting every election for 50 years. Mary left school to care for her parents and help raise her younger siblings. She also was a volunteer at Windber Hospice. Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc., Windber, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic church, Windber, Father Rod Soha, TOR, pastor. Committal St. John’s Cantius’ Cemetery, Windber. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Windber Hospice in memory of Mary.
