Mary M. "Mitzie" Appleyard

Appleyard, Mary M., “Mitzie,” 86, Windber, passed away Mar. 20, 2018 at Arbutus Park Manor. Born Oct. 12, 1931 in Windber. Daughter of Paul and Julia (Iswalk) Matcho. Preceded in death by parents, brother Ernest and sister Agnes Yursky. Survived by loving husband of 63 years Robert and these children Linda, wife of Frank Tallyen, Windber, Robert, and wife Christina (Lucas), New Holland, PA and Dennis and wife Sherry (Smith), Hagerstown, MD. Grandchildren Heather, wife of Justin Sherle, Frank, and wife Jessie (Gula) Timothy, Jodi and Brittany. Great-grandchildren Kayla, Evan, Collin, Tyler, Emilee and Julia. Brothers Paul Matcho and wife Patty and Thomas Matcho, and wife Jean. Also numerous nieces and nephews. Member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Windber, where she cleaned the church and volunteered for many activities.  Mary enjoyed cooking, baking and going to craft shows. The family would like to thank the Staff at Windber Hospice and Arbutus Park Manor for their excellent care of Mary. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm Thursday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc., Windber, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 pm Friday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Windber. Fr. Rod Soha, TOR, pastor. Committal church cemetery.
