John Phillips

Phillips, John, 90, Windber died Oct. 26, 2017 at the Church of the Brethren Home. Born Sept. 20, 1927 in Windber son of late John and Ellen (Reese) Phillips. Also preceded in death by wife of 45 years former Mildred Barrett, brother George, and sisters Ruth Maryhew, Margaret Statler, and Bessie Ellsworth. Father to Terry D., married to former Joyce Belsky, Wendy J., wife of Daniel McGee, and Bryan J., married to the former Susan Erhard. Also survived by grandchildren Jennifer, Andrea, Danny, John, Michael, and Kristen, and great grandchildren Catherine, Jack, Lily, Laiken, and Logan.  He was last member of his immediate family. Member of Scalp LevelChurch of the Brethren. John retired after 44 years with PNG and was a supervisor for regulation and storage for Johnstown and surrounding areas. He served in the USN on USS Fargo as seaman 2c. Member of Windber Lions Club where he served as President and served on the Board of Directors. Member of Order Arrow Boy Scouts. Life member of Paint-Scalp Level Vol. Fire Co.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the Church of the Brethren Home for their care of John. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home, Inc., Windber where service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday. Rev. Ronald St. Clair officiating.  Interment at Richland Cemetery Mausoleum with military graveside rite by Windber VFW Ritual Team.  Memorial contributions may be made to Windber Hospice in John’s memory
