Weaver, Mrs. Jean., 90, Scalp Level and Buckstown. Died Jan. 13, 2015 at Laurel View Village, Davidsville. Born Dec. 5, 1924 in Scalp Level. Daughter of Joseph B. and Daisy (Seese) Oldham. Preceded in death by parents, husband of 48 years Eugene, 7 brothers and 3 sisters. Survived by these children Susan, wife of Fred P. Walter, Jr., Stoystown, Samuel, married to the former Ruth Sill, Buckstown, Claudia, wife of Thomas Kotch, Jr., Indian Lake, Darryl, married to the former Bonnie Pile, Waynesburg, Lucinda, wife of James Cochran, Jr., Westminster, MD, Melodie, wife of Rick Black, Stoystown, and Shawn, married to the former Brenda Gooden, Glencoe. 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and brother Edward Oldham, Pittsburgh. Also numerous nieces and nephews.
Lifelong member of the Lutheran Church. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. She was well known for “Grandma Jeannie’s” world famous tomato sandwiches, homemade bread, and baked goods. She also enjoyed feeding the birds and playing cards with her grandchildren. Jean loved to sing. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc., Windber, where funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Jeffrey Bassette, officiating. Interment Berkey cemetery, Windber.
