James John Lapinsky, Sr.

LAPINSKY – James John Sr., 88, Windber, died peacefully at home Nov. 23 2015. Born June 24, 1927, in Windber, son of Julius and Sophia (Novak) Lapinsky. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Martha (Peterson) Lapinsky; sisters, Mary Mack, Helen Kohler, Ethel Parker, Velma Lapinsky and Daisy Lapinsky; and brothers, Frank, Rudolph, Robert, Alexander and Albert. Survived by son, James Jr., married to the former Lauree (Hiteshew); granddaughter, Cortney (Lapinsky), wife of  Evan Verostick, great-granddaughter, Jordyn Mae Verostick; daughter, Gail Stotler; grandson, Charles; granddaughter, Dr. Brie Stotler, wife of  Dr. Jamie Kane; daughter, Carol Lapinsky and Richard Janik; granddaughter, Gabria, wife of  Donald Fresch; great-granddaughter, Chyanne Fresch; sister, Mildred Ward; and sisters-in-law, Verna Lapinsky and Nonie Peterson. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Seaman First Class. Retired from Labors International Union. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and taking care of his canine buddy, Zeke. At Big Jim’s request, there will be no viewing or visitation.
