Gregory K. Shaffer

Shaffer, Gregory K., 69, Bedford died April 24, 2016 at UPMC, Bedford.  Born October 8, 1947 in Windber son of the late Gerald A. and Helen (Hoover) Shaffer.

Survived by his loving son, Cory J. Shaffer and his wife Susan (Cooper); grandchildren Ryan Miller, Fishertown, Linsey McFetridge, Altoona, Sheena Weyant (Joshua), Windber and Jim Endress, III, Ryot and also 6 great grandchildren.   Brother of Sandra Shaffer, Little Ferry, NJ, & Dwayne. Also survived by several nephews and nieces.

Graduated from Richland Township HS Class of 1965.  Served as a Sergeant in the US Army from 1967 until 1972 when he was honorably discharged.  Greg was the owner/ operator of Greg Shaffer Auto Sales, Bedford for more than 25 years, retiring in 2012. 

Greg was a proud member of the Bedford American Legion Post 113, SOL for 20 years.  He made many friendships there.  He was also a member of the Bedford LOOM #480 since 1982. 

Greg had a love of Mopar and Chrysler vehicles.  He had a vast knowledge of cars.  He passed that knowledge on to his son.  They would talk for hours about cars and motors.  He loved cruising town in his Chrysler Prowler.  Mopar magazine once said that he owned more Hemi cars than anyone in the United States.  Greg was an avid NASCAR fan.  He was loved by so many! 

There will be no visitation of viewing but memorial service will be held Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Good Shepherd Lutheran Church 514 Shady Lane, Windber PA.  Friends will be received from 10 am until time of service.  Pastor Ruth Kocha Jensen, officiating. Military rite by Windber VFW Ritual Team will follow the service at the church..

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bedford American Legion SOL, Rt. 220 Bedford, PA 15522.
