David A. Mihalko, Sr.

June 20, 1941 ~ April 10, 2016 (age 74) 74 Years Old

MIHALKO, David A., Sr., 74, was called by the Lord unexpectedly in his sleep April 10, 2016.  Born June 20, 1941 in Windber, Pa, Richland Twp. Son of Dezso and Mary (Molnar) Mihalko. Preceded in death by parents and daughter, Amy Pribicko. Survived by beloved wife of 53 years, Mary Alice (Kirschman) Mihalko. Sons David A. married to Cheryl (Leonardis), Windber;  Jeffrey P. married to Dawn (Filat); Son-in-law, Jon Pribicko, all of Richland Twp. Beloved grandchildren, Sarah (Mihalko) married to Matthew Penatzer; Nathan Mihalko; Adam, Courtney and Evan Mihalko; Margaret, Gillian and Chloe Pribicko. Also survived by sisters Janet Cannon, Richland Twp and Mary Ann Lindner married to James Lindner, Yardley, PA. Also numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews as well as dozens of life-long friends and business associates.  Dave was a loving, friendly and giving man in many ways.  If you needed a helping hand, Dave was the one you would call on and he always put other’s needs before his own. He was a graduate of Richland High School class of 1959.  Dave, his wife and son Jeff are the owners of Restoration Specialties and Supply, Inc, in Windber, PA. founded in 1974.  His love of antique automobiles led to the purchase of this company in 1980. It has grown into a thriving business serving the antique & classic automobile restorers all over the world.  This business was his life... putting blood, sweat and tears into it.  Dave was also an avid hunter and fisherman since his childhood and kept his freezer full of venison every season.  He and his wife took a trip of a lifetime in 2012 traveling to Alaska in their motor home for 3 months.  He loved it there and wanted so much to return again some day to do some serious gold prospecting, his latest hobby.  Dave was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America for 53 years, Flood City Region Antique Auto Club and the Gold Prospectors of America.  His passion was antique automobiles and his 1929 Model A Ford was the first car he bought when he was 14 for $35.  He still has this car today, completely restored 3 years ago. His 1963 Porsche is well-known in the area as well as the 1956 yellow T-Bird presented to his wife on their 50th wedding anniversary.

Dave was a devoted husband and father and an awesome grandpa to his 8 grandchildren and attended all of their athletic and musical events and welcomed the addition of Matt when he married oldest grand-daughter, Sarah.  He loved all of his nieces and nephews with all of his heart and was greatly respected by all of his younger cousins.  Dave held a special place in his heart for his nephew, Jimmy Cannon, to whom he was a surrogate father. He was a faithful Catholic man with a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother.  Dave’s passing leaves a giant hole in many hearts and he will be well-remembered in many stories as time goes by, especially his extreme distaste for peanut butter and bacon.  His family wishes to extend our deepest appreciation for all of the support and love you have shown us during this extremely difficult time.  David was a former member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Hungarian Church in Windber and is now a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Windber, where the funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday, Rev Roderick Soha, pastor, officiating. Entombment All Faiths Chapel and Mausoleum, Windber. Family will receive friends from 2 to 8 PM on Tuesday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home, Inc., Windber.  At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church building fund, AACA Museum or AACA Library, PO Box 417, Hershey, PA 17033 in memory of Dave.
