Sciotti, Arkule J., “A.J.”, 97, Windber died March 25, 2015 at Windber Hospice. Born Nov. 29, 1917 in Windber son of Valentine and Bernardine (Bonomo) Sciotti. Also preceded in death by wife former Darlyne D. Webb, brothers William, Alpine, & Richard “Reach”.
Survived by daughter Sandra K., wife of John Payne, Sebring, FL, granddaughter Charlene Gordon, Sebring, and 2 great grandchildren. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend Norma Bothwell, Windber. A.J. was the last member of his immediate family. 1935 graduate of WAHS, then went on to graduate from Johns Hopkins, School of Engineering, class of 1942. He then went on to receive a masters degree in business administration from Ohio Christian College. Formerly employed by G.L.Martin Co., where he helped to establish self-sealing fuel tanks for airplanes. He taught blue print reading evening courses. Also formerly employed by Bethehem Steel Corp., where he was manager of three different units and developed the one coat paint system. Served US Coast Guard where he was assigned to port security work. Member of Windber Church of the Brethren where he was the oldest lifetime deacon. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home, Inc. Windber. Funeral service will be held at noon Saturday at Windber Church of the Brethren, Pastor Joe Brown officiating. Interment Ogletown Cemetery, with military graveside rite by Windber VFW Ritual Team. Memorial contributions may be made to Windber Hospice in A.J.’s memory.
